Looking for a fresh Netflix movie to watch? Try one that is based on a book instead? There are many excellent choices, ranging from classic books to current bestsellers. You can find something to your liking whether you're in the mood for a romance, a thriller, or a comedy.

Here are Netflix shows based on books:


1. To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Lara Jean Covey writes letters to all of her past loves, the letters are meant for her eyes only. Until one day when all the love letters are secretly sent out to her previous loves by her little sister. Her life is soon thrown into chaos when her foregoing loves confront her one by one. The show is a trilogy which contains three parts and is based on the book of the same name by Jenny Hann


2. The Summer I turned Pretty


Technically it is not streaming on Netflix rather it's streaming on Amazon Prime, i added it here because it is such a beautiful story of summer houses, summer nights and love triangles. "It is about the forever kind of friendship that spans over boyfriends and beaches and children and lifetimes" (i didn't write that lol, it's from the book of the same name by Jenny Han).


3. All the light we cannot see

 The story of Marie-Laure, a blind French teenager, and Werner, a German soldier, whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II. Based on the book by Anthony Doerr.


4. The Boy who harnessed the wind 

Against all the odds, a thirteen-year-old boy in Malawi invents an unconventional way to save his family and village from famine. Based on the book of the same name by William Kamkwamba


5. Three-Body problem


 Based on the novel of the same name by Liu Cixin. A fateful decision in 1960s China echoes across space and time to a group of scientists in the present, forcing them to face humanity's greatest threat.


6. Luckiest Girl Alive

Based on the the New York times bestselling  2015 novel of the same name by Jessica Knoll, A woman in New York  who seems to have everything under control, is faced with a trauma that makes her life unravel.


7. Five feet Apart


How can you love someone and not be able to touch or feel the person? A pair of teenagers with Cystic Fibrosis meet in a hospital and fall in love, their disease means they must avoid close physical contact. Based on the 2018 novel of the same by Rachael Lippincott with contributions from Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Laconis


8. The fault in our stars


Based on the the novel of the same name by John Green the title of the novel is inspired by Act 1 scene 2 of Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar. Two teenage cancer patients begin a life-affirming journey to visit a reclusive author in Amsterdam
