Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc. (GTCO) is using its 2023 GTCO Autism Conference as a platform to raise awareness of the inclusion and self-advocacy of people on the autism spectrum.


The subject of this year's program is "Empowering Voices for Autism" in an effort to encourage inclusivity and self-advocacy for people with autism spectrum disorders.

The conference, an offshoot of the Orange Ribbon Initiative, serves as a yearly focal point for autism awareness and intervention throughout Africa, giving thousands of people with neurodevelopmental disorders support and empowerment.


This year's event will include lectures, panel discussions, and performances that have been thoughtfully organized with the help of experts and partner organizations in Nigeria and abroad to highlight the wide range of abilities in the autistic community.


Additionally, it will provide a forum for ASD sufferers and their families to interact and exchange ideas with subject-matter specialists on various facets of autism spectrum disorder, such as its nature and treatment.


The conference will take place in Nigeria on July 24 and 25 at the Muson Centre in Lagos, and the Chapel of Light in Alausa, Ikeja, will host a free one-on-one clinic from July 26 to 29.


The activities in Ghana will start on August 1 with a workshop at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Ghana, and consultations will take place there from August 2 to 5.


According to Segun Agbaje, group chief executive officer of GTCO, varied people with their own opinions, viewpoints, and cultures are welcomed and embraced in society.


He encouraged giving people with ASD the chance to succeed and giving them the freedom to live life to the fullest.


Agbaje added, "We are enthusiastic about the developing knowledge on the management of autism and are committed to ensuring that more and more people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are able to find their voice, embrace their individuality, and make important contributions to society.
