A Banking Academy has been established by Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited to support the professional advancement of women in the banking industry.
The financial institution said in a statement that the Standard Chartered Banking Academy is a part of its commitment to enhancing workplace diversity for women and putting women in a strong position to succeed in the future workforce in financial services.
Ibiyemi Okuneye, Head of Transaction Banking, Standard Chartered Bank, Nigeria and West Africa, commented on the initiative, saying, "We are very excited to be launching the first of its kind Academy in the Nigerian Banking sector." Enhancing the diversity of senior management talent in the banking sector is the goal of the Standard Chartered Banking Academy. The Standard Chartered Banking Academy is one way we continue to develop the abilities and talent of professional women in the banking industry. It also gives us the chance to maximize the potential of more women in order to shape a better future for all of us in the industry, thanks to the support of our Academy implementation partners, the International Chamber of Commerce, Nigeria chapter, and the Association of Professional Women Bankers.

The first cohort, which is open to Bank employees as well as other female workers in other banks and financial service organizations, will concentrate on developing the capacity of female talent in West Africa's transaction banking industry.
