Wema Bank Plc appoints Yewande Zaccheaus as Non-Executive Director

With the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) approval, Yewande Zaccheaus was named as a non-executive director of Wema Bank Plc on October 13, 2023.

Zaccheaus is the founder and chairman of Eventful Ltd., a trailblazing and preeminent consulting and event planning firm in Nigeria.

She attended the University of Lagos to study law before graduating with an LL.M. from Cambridge University in England.

Yewande began her career with Nigerian American Merchant Bank. After leaving to work in private practice, she joined Ecobank Nigeria Plc in 1989 and served as the company secretary and legal adviser there until 2002. Prior to her retirement from banking, she worked briefly in Ecobank Nigeria Plc's Private Banking division.

Following a prosperous career in banking and law, Yewande founded Eventful Ltd. in 2002. After 19 years as the company's head, she retired in March 2021, marking the first leadership change in the event sector. Yewande is also a former chair of Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ) and a founding trustee of the organization. She is a multi-award winning entrepreneur who chairs and serves as a non-executive director on numerous boards and nonprofit organizations.

With nearly four decades of expertise in law, banking, business, consulting, planning, and management, Yewande Zaccheaus's appointment will undoubtedly increase the breadth and depth of knowledge on the Wema Bank Plc board.
