Not enough peados are being jailed, warns head of UK’s National Crime Agency

Graeme Biggar, the head of the National Crime Agency, has cautioned that not many paedophiles are going to prison.

The massive social networking platform Meta recently added end-to-end encryption, which the NCA has warned is dangerous and would make it more difficult to keep kids safe.

Parents were urged by the agency "to think very carefully" before letting their kids use the company's social media sites, such as Facebook and Instagram.

Mr. Biggar made his statement in response to data that revealed only 25% of those found guilty of seeing offensive photos of children received jail time; the remaining jurors were sentenced to suspended or community service.

"We are in ongoing discussions with the Home Office regarding this," he stated. The balance needs to change, in my opinion.

When asked if he believed that more people ought to be imprisoned, he said, "I do."

The NCA's head of operations, Rob Jones, acknowledged that not all pedophiles could be imprisoned due to the widespread nature of child abuse on the internet.

According to NCA estimates, there are 680,000–830,000 individuals in the UK who could be sexually dangerous for children.

Since not all of them will be incarcerated, Mr. Jones stated: "We need to do other things in terms of treatment, diversion, and disruption."

“There is no ‘just looking at images’. You have got to confront somebody who gets gratification from seeing horrendous images.

“It is all the real world, particularly for victims.”
