The Bafana Bafana of South Africa was defeated on Wednesday night by the Super Eagles, who advanced to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final in Cote d'Ivoire, to the delight of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In the earlier game, the African Cup of Nations finals were reached by the Nigerian Super Eagles, who defeated South Africa's Bafana Bafana 4-2 on penalties. In the present tournament's final in Abidjan on Sunday, they will therefore play the Ivory Coast Elephants.
PDP said that the Super Eagles showed Nigerian tenacity and character in every game, from the tournament's group stage to the semifinals, in a statement issued by Debo Ologunagba, the party's national publicity secretary, on Thursday.
The statement partly read, “Such never-say-die disposition and ultimate victory of the Super Eagles even in the face of challenging situation point to the fact that with our collective Will, our nation will overcome its present challenges.
“The PDP prays for the Super Eagles and charges the team to continue in this spirit and bring greater honour to the nation by lifting the coveted trophy at the finals on Sunday.”
