Head Coach Randy Waldrum has revealed the final squad for Nigeria’s Super Falcons ahead of this year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France. Leading the team will be captain Rasheedat Ajibade, with key players including goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, and forward Asisat Oshoala among the 19 selected.

The squad also features defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, and Toni Payne, as well as forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Uchenna Kanu.

Team members currently on holiday in Nigeria will join home-based players and officials on an Air France flight from Abuja to Sevilla, Spain, on Thursday night. The remainder of the squad and technical team will arrive in Sevilla on Friday for a two-week training camp. The team is set to depart Sevilla for France on Thursday, July 18.

The nine-time African champions are making their first Olympic appearance since the 2008 Beijing Games. Nigeria will compete in Group C against Brazil, Spain, and Japan. The Super Falcons secured their spot in the 12-team tournament by edging out South Africa’s Banyana Banyana 1-0 in April, thanks to a penalty by Ajibade.

Nigeria’s opening match against Brazil is scheduled for July 25 at the Stade Bordeaux, followed by games against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31 at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes. This venue holds historic significance for Nigerian football, as the Super Eagles famously defeated Spain 3-2 there during the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
