The Kaduna Millennium City Specialist Hospital, a 300-bed facility commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025, has been described by residents as deserted and non-operational, barely two months after its inauguration.

Umar Baba-Ali, a former APC state delegate, expressed disappointment over the situation during a visit to the hospital on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

“I came to this hospital today … and as you can see, the place is empty. We pass by here almost every day, and it is always the same — no one is around,”  he said.

Baba-Ali criticized the ceremony, claiming that vehicles and temporary setups were brought in only for the event, but disappeared afterward.

“With the announcement that the Millennium Hospital has been commissioned, we honestly do not understand what was actually commissioned. This is not about politics. What we want is justice, not deception — people should not be misled into believing something was done when, in reality, it was not,”  he added.

He recalled that the hospital project was initiated by former Vice President Namadi Sambo, completed under ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and officially inaugurated by Governor Uba Sani during Tinubu’s visit. Despite the completion, the facility remains unused, sparking criticism over its naming after President Tinubu rather than Sambo.

Baba-Ali concluded with a plea for accountable leadership, saying,

“May God bless us with leaders who carry the love of their people in their hearts, and who remain faithful in their service. For the kind of leaders we have been given, O God, we ask for forgiveness. Please grant us the right leaders.”
