Actress Natalie Portman to file for divorce from estranged husband Benjamin Millepied

The 11-year marriage between Israeli-American actress Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied is apparently about to collapse after Millepied was accused of infidelity with a climate activist who is 21 years his younger. 

This comes after the 42-year-old Black Swan actress, who revealed that she lives in Paris with their two kids, appeared to confirm the breakdown of her 11-year marriage to the 46-year-old choreographer this week in an interview with WSJ Magazine. She made no mention of him.

She revealed this shortly after flying solo at the Golden Globes and a few weeks after she was spotted sans her wedding ring once more. 

Before filing for divorce, the actress allegedly took some time to "process and heal" and consider how best to handle the situation for their 12-year-old son Aleph and 6-year-old daughter Amalia. 

An insider exclusively told DailyMail, "Natalie and Benjamin tried to make it work, but she simply could not get past his cheating on her."

"Divorce proceedings are underway, but no paperwork has been filed yet." But they are no longer together; she lives in Paris while Benjamin stays in the US to work.

"They are determining what is best for their children because they are excellent parents and have a great deal of love for them."

The insider continued, saying, "Those around Natalie know how strong of a woman she is and how dedicated to her causes, including women's empowerment." Natalie needed time to digest and recover.

"No woman should have to tolerate a partner who cheats on her." Because it is who she is, she has kept it private.

Last year, when the French publication Voici published an explosive story that he had an affair with 25-year-old climate activist Camille Étienne, charges of infidelity shook Natalie and Benjamin's marriage.

At the time, People magazine said that Benjamin was "doing all he could" to persuade "Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together" and that his relationship with Camille was "short-lived."

The publication was informed by a source that "he knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together."

"Natalie is very private and doesn't want to discuss this in public." Her top focus is keeping her kids' privacy private.

However, an insider told Us Weekly in early August that the couple was divorcing because they were unable to mend their relationship in the wake of the shocking adultery allegations.

"They've been trying to work on their marriage but are currently on the outs," the insider claimed at the time, referring to the disclosure of his affair.
