A woman was killed by suspected armed robbers in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state, around 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024. The incident occurred along NTA Road, creating panic among local residents.
The unidentified woman was shot dead by gunmen operating on a motorcycle. According to a source, "The gunmen, who were riding on a motorcycle, attempted to forcibly take the woman's bag while she was standing by the road. She resisted and refused to surrender her bag and other valuables. The assailants then shot her and fled the scene immediately."
Witnesses reported that people in the vicinity scrambled for safety, and business owners and traders quickly closed their shops. The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, describing it as a robbery. He revealed that N40,280 was found in the deceased woman's bag.
DSP Abutu stated that her body has been deposited in the morgue and that the police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
